Description of the book

Harry loves his life - he likes to ride his bicycle,
and fly with the birds, and splash the fishes.
But one day he finds out that he will someday die.

Every day he worries, 'Will this be the day I die?'
Suddenly his life is no longer fun.

Only when Harry decides to live each day as if it's his last can he rediscover the joy in life.

The authors were inspired to write this story when they had to find a
way to explain death to their young children. They decided to create
a story that would be uplifting and positive, seen from the perspective
of a child, whose sweetness and innocence is insightful in the lesson
it can teach both adults and children.

Book Reviews

'I so love your book.It is insightful, meaningful, humorous, honest and moving.
Thank you for including me in the beauty of your thoughts.'
Elle Macpherson

'I love this book. It has so many messages on many levels, such as life is what you make it, live in the
moment and many more.'
Peter Brock

'Reading this very touching little book suddenly puts our worries into perspective.'
John Konrads, former Olympian swimmer and board member of Black Dog Society

'This is a lovely little book - with a simple,
beautiful message'
Cardinal George Pell AC, Archbishop of Sydney

'It is quite superb!  Simple at the surface and profound in its message and very multi-layered.  Well done.'
Professor Gordon Parker, Executive Director, Black Dog Institute

'I recommend this book to all those grumpy old men and women out there. It is a book for all ages, a lesson in living life happily
and to its fullest. The simple line illustrations seem to fit with the simplicity of the text perfectly and the small format gives it
a charming intimacy for grown-up or small hands.
Margaret Hamilton,

'Gillie and Marc Schattner love life, we learn, 'almost as much as they love each other.' Their passion for painting and writing
together has led to a profound and achingly beautiful little book, The Happiest Day of My Life. Written in an effort to explain the
concept of death to their two beloved children, The Happiest Day of My Life is the story of Harry, a philosophical worrywart.
The moral? 'Only when Harry decides to live each day as if it's his last can he rediscover the joy in life.'
A book that belongs in every Christmas stocking the world over.
Antonella Gambotto-Burke, Author and critic - www.thisisawar.com

'People I see have had wonderful reactions and feelings about your small, but big in feelings, book. I think and feel that the
book is excellent in its own statement of the process of grieving. I also like the way Harry acknowledges his sadness to himself,
if only ALL people would allow themselves to feel what they feel. The simplicity of your story invokes understanding, and compassion.'

Dr Sandra E. S Neil PhD, clinical psychologist, World Area Chair, International Council of Psychologists

A very well thought out and powerful message is to be found in this small book. What appears on first impressions to be a
little plain on the outside holds a beautiful and powerful little story that can make readers and listener stop and contemplate
life ... This is the type of book that reminds us to stop and smell the roses rather than just going through the motions of
daily living. It could also be a useful tool to introduce the topic of death to a child or group of children. The simple but delightful
and expressive sketches add meaning to the text and are quite powerful even though they are in subdued tones.
It is a small but insightful story with a reminder to all to live each day as though it could be your last. It has wide appeal.
Suitable for readers aged 6 to 16 years.
